Agile

Agile software methodologies are all about delivering value to customers faster.

On 11th February 2001, at The Lodge, Snowbird Ski Resort, Wasatch Mountains, Utah, USA, seventeen software experts met to discuss improving upon the existing, often failing, heavyweight (waterfall) methods of software development. On 13th, they signed the Agile Manifesto. This consisted of four values and twelve principles. All agile software methodologies are built upon the foundation of the Agile Manifesto.

An Agile Success Formula

People: Having a highly motivated, self organising (autonomous) team. With a management that is supportive, respectful and chooses not to use command and control style of leadership.

Tools: Using the best tools and processes available. This includes having automated testing of the systems behaviour to prevent the need for manually testing.

Framework: A lightweight and easily understood framework, allowing for fast delivery, feedback and adaptation.
